On 11 July 2013 Deputy Minister for Foreign Affairs of Ukraine – Head of staff Mr. Andriі Olefirov paid a working visit to Ireland.
In the framework of the visit Mr. A.Olefirov had meetings with Mr. David Cooney, Secretary General of the Department of Foreign Affairs and Trade of Ireland, Mr. Pat Breen TD, Chairman of the Joint Committee on Foreign Affairs and Trade of the Parliament of Ireland and headed the Ukrainian delegation at the political consultations at the level of deputy ministers of foreign affairs of Ukraine and Ireland.
During the consultations, which held with Mr. David Donohue, Political Director, Deputy Secretary General of the DFA of Ireland, the Parties confirmed an ascending dynamics of Ukraine-Ireland relations, intensification of a high level political dialogue, as well as essential increase of trade, active development of interparliamentary contacts.
The Irish Party reiterated its constant support for Ukraine’s European aspirations, in particular signing of Ukraine-EU Association Agreement.
During the consultations the international security issues and bilateral cooperation in the international organisations were also discussed. Special attention was paid to interaction in the framework of the OSCE in the view of current Ukrainian Chairmanship of the Organization.
