On 4 September 2013 a reception on the occasion of the 22nd anniversary of Independence of Ukraine was held at the Dublin Mansion House.
The reception was attended by the Lord Mayor of Dublin Cllr. Oisín Quinn, Department of Foreign Affairs and Trade of Ireland officials, representatives of the Irish public and business community, diplomatic corps as well as the Ukrainian diaspora.
In his speech the Ambassador of Ukraine Sergii Reva outlined the main achievements of Ukraine since Independence, focusing on the dynamics of its current political and economic development, active position on the international arena, in particular successful Ukrainian Presidency of the OSCE.
Special emphasis was placed on the constant course of Ukraine towards European integration, which should be confirmed by signing the EU-Ukraine Association Agreement at the Vilnius summit of "Eastern Partnership" next November.
The Lord Mayor of Dublin stressed the historical importance of Ukraine's Independence and noted the progressive nature of Irish-Ukrainian relations.
