Ambassador of Ukraine to Ireland Sergii Reva: holding a referendum in Crimea at gunpoint would be an obvious farce

The decision of the Verkhovna Rada of the Autonomous Republic of Crimea on holding a referendum violates Ukraine’s Constitution and under Russian military intervention will be an obvious farce, Ambassador of Ukraine to Ireland Sergii Reva said to “RTE Radio 1”.
Hasty referendum at gunpoint a priori is illegitimate, and I am sure its results will not be recognized by any civilized country, - Mr. S.Reva said.
Ambassador also stressed that accusations by the Russian Federation as to alleged oppression of the Russian speaking population in Crimea are groundless.
