The situation in the eastern regions of Ukraine, particularly in towns where pro-Russian separatists seized buildings, remains tense through subversive role of Russia, Ambassador of Ukraine to Ireland Sergii Reva said in his interview to “Morning Ireland” of the “RTE 1 Radio” and “RTE TV ONE” channel.
According to Mr. Reva, Russia does not adhere to the Geneva Agreements supporting separatists in Ukraine and sending there its saboteurs, including intelligence officers. He called the shootout in the town of Slaviansk on 20 April a provocation and staging. Ambassador denied the information of the Russian Mass Media on alleged participation of the Ukrainian authorities and the “Right Sector” in that incident.
The purpose of aggressive actions of Russia in the East of Ukraine is to disrupt Presidential elections in Ukraine to be held on 25 May 2014 and to destabilize situation in the region. Talking about the need for implementation of the Geneva Agreements Ambassador said: One call from Moscow to pro-Russian separatists in Ukraine would be enough to ease tension.
