Amid the threat of Russia's military invasion of Ukraine, a peaceful rally of the Ukrainian community took place outside the Irish Parliament to draw attention to the need to support Ukraine's independence, sovereignty and territorial integrity and security in Europe.
It is important that the rally was supported by the Taoiseach Micheál Martin, senators, deputies, foreign ambassadors and representatives of the Georgian, Lithuanian and Belarusian communities.
In talks with the Ambassador of Ukraine Larysa Gerasko and representatives of the Ukrainian community, Irish politicians reassured of the unwavering support of our state.
In particular, the Taoiseach Micheál Martin stressed that Ireland seeks peace in Europe and the de-escalation of the situation around Ukraine. He also expressed confidence that the EU recognizes the importance of unity in resolving this issue through diplomacy.
