On 10 October 2014 the President of Ukraine Petro Poroshenko had a meeting with the Speaker of the Riksdag of Sweden Urban Ahlin, Ceann Comhairle of Dáil Éireann Mr. Seán Barrett T.D., Speaker of Irish House of Representatives Sean Barrett, Speaker in the Polish Senate Bogdan Borusewicz, Speaker at the Seimas of Lithuania Loreta Graužinienė and First Deputy Speaker of Danish Parliament Bertel Haarder who were on a visit to Kyiv.
The President expressed gratitude to the participants of the meeting for the support of their countries to Ukraine and emphasized the importance of European solidarity for ensuring stability of peaceful process in Ukraine. "We all need unity in the EU and solidarity with Ukraine. Ukraine and your countries, Ukraine and the EU, Ukraine and the whole world must speak the same voice – the voice of freedom, democracy and European values," the Head of State noted.
The Head of State urged to increase assistance to Ukraine on its way towards reforms and enhance economic and military-technical cooperation. "It should be a mutually beneficial cooperation," he said.
The Heads of the Parliament stressed the importance of holding reforms by Ukraine despite its difficult situation. In response, Petro Poroshenko noted that it was important for Ukraine to study the European experience in the process of reforms. In particular he expressed interest in the experience of Ireland that directs its state policy at the attraction of a great volume of investments.
